What I’ve Been Reading: Feb 2012

Question of the month: What’s your most sentimental jewelry item – share the story behind it:

One of my most-worn jewelry items is this gold-twist bangle with a knot-clasp:

My Grandmother’s Bangle with my Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch

This was given to my grandmother on her wedding day – she treasured these bangles (they come in a set of 2) and wore them every day.  On my wedding day, my mother gave me one of the bangles – and I’ve worn it ever since.

I love how this bangle looks delicate yet is very sturdy. The clasp is joined in a design called “lover’s knot” (very wedding appropriate LOL). This goes with most of my accessories since I love wearing gold and rose gold…but I even wore this through my platinum/white gold phase. My sister wears the matching bangle – and my daughter has already claimed MY bangle for “when she grows up”!

Would love to hear about which jewelry pieces hold sentimental value for you in the comments.

Now on to a new monthly feature – posts from some of my favorite bloggers!

That bracelet is simple, classic and beautiful! I've been slowly saving for that MK watch – I'd be more inclined to purchase if I actually wore watches often. I saw on Kerri's blog that you use the Kiehl's Avocado eyecream. How do you like it?! I'm very tempted to purchase and try it out!New happy follower 🙂

Thanks for following Lori 🙂 The MK watch is a good investment – I've worn it every day since I got it – and I think it's held up pretty well. It felt heavy at first but now I don't even notice it.I should do a post on the Kiehl's Avocado eye cream – I know a lot of bloggers love it. It provides long-lasting moisture to the eye area, but it's not greasy (when I pat around my eye, I can still feel it on 12 hours later!). You should definitely try it (maybe ask for a sample first if you're unsure). It doesn't claim to fight wrinkles, lighten shadows, de-puff etc – but I think a lot of those concerns are automatically improved with proper moisture (just my opinion though).

I just posted mine Ella 🙂 Please read it and let me know if I did it correctly! I love the combination of your grandmother's bangle with your MK watch. They were made for each other! That bangle is so pretty, and it looks very modern!

Thanks Noelle – It's surprising how much the bangle blends in with my other accessories – I think its simple design makes it classic and versatile.

My favorite sentimental jewelry is the bracelet my husband gave me after the birth of our son. It is a charm bracelet with birth certificates monogrammed for both of our children. I actually love it so much I am afraid I might loose it. I loved hearing the story.

Love the story behind the bangle! Sentimental jewelry is the best – it brings back memories and is more about the story than the piece itself.Red Soles and Red Wine
