It’s definitely sweater weather in Toronto now – and as the weather cools down, my skin starts feeling tight, scaly and dry.
In the colder months, I HAVE to switch out my shower gel and light lotion for more hydrating products – and in today’s post I’m sharing my current body skincare routine, using scrumptiously-scented products from Soap & Glory!
It cracks me up that Soap & Glory’s “Smoothie Star” range comes with this warning on it’s label: “We are legally obliged to remind you that THIS IS NOT FOOD.” And the funny thing is – this warning is SO necessary, because this range is the most deliciously scented thing I’ve ever tried!
I start my shower by applying the Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub on damp skin. This scrub smells like caramelized sugar, and contains oats, sea salt and sugar scrubbing beads mixed with shea butter, glycerin, honey and sweet almond oil. The product is a thick paste with dense scrubbies that don’t disappear when wet – which is very satisfying, as you can take your time to scrub your skin in circles and allow the product to work its magic on your skin.
It rinses off easily and leaves my skin feeling silky and hydrated. It already feels lightly moisturized, but I like to seal everything in with the Smoothie Star Body Buttercream. To be honest, this body butter may not last long in our house – because my daughter loves using it too! She says it smells like a macaron – which makes sense as it’s fragranced with pistachio, almond and sweet vanilla. It’s a very luxuriant and rich cream with a 5-oil blend including coconut oil and almond oil.
If you prefer a lighter citrus-y formula after your shower, you can try the Sugar Crush Body Lotion. It has fruit-based Alpha Hydroxy Acids along with 6 skin-smoothing oils. Since I use the body butter in the shower, I keep this lotion bottle next to my laptop, as my hands get dry so quickly. It smells fresh and has a cooling effect on your skin. It absorbs within a minute – which is perfect, as I can get back to typing without worrying about slippery hands!
If you can’t get enough of the Soap & Glory scent – you can layer on their body sprays throughout the day. They’re a handy size to stash in your gym bag or to keep in your drawer at work. Original Pink has bergamot, mandarin and musk – and is probably the scent you’re most familiar with if you’ve used Soap & Glory products in the past. Smoothie Star is our family favourite as the vanilla and sweet almond scent smells like dessert! Sugar Crush is a must for citrus-lovers, as it combines lime with ginger, sugar and vanilla.

My lips need extra TLC in the colder months – and these Sexy Mother Picker Lip Plumping Glosses are the perfect solution. The formula contains plant oils, so your lips feel super moisturized and shiny. As for the lip plumping effects – you don’t have to worry about any stinging with this product – you just feel a little buzzing as the formula gets to work. It adds some volume to your lip, along with a pretty shimmery finish. Candy Queen has pink sparkles, Nude Star is rose gold and Spun Sugar has champagne shimmer. You can wear them on your bare lips but they also add a pretty finish when layered over a matte lipcolour.
