Resolutions for 2013

My first post of the year! I love starting off a New Year – it feels like a chance to evaluate our lives and have a fresh start. I enjoy making resolutions (old posts here & here) –  there may be a lot of repetition – but that’s ok – some resolutions need constant work, while others can be checked off the list. Here are this year’s:

FRESH START: Making snow-angels with my baby-girl

1) Get Driver’s Licence – recurring BUT I’ve made progress. Last year I attended driving school & completed in-car lessons. Up next – getting more practice and going for the road test.

2) Have a tidy & organized house – I’m good at organizing but I’ve got to teach the rest of my family to get involved so that I’m not always picking up after everyone else.

3) Go back to my goal weight – I have been exercising and eating healthy – but I have to step it up!

4) Take care of my skin – keeping skin clear & acne-free while doing anti-aging massage and facial exercises.

5) In bed by 11pm every night – (as I type this at 1 AM…GUILTY!) Why can’t I be a morning person? Surely this year I can make the switch.

6) Set up a good after-school routine for the kids – By fall they’ll start getting homework – and I want to make sure they develop good habits and get everything done on time.

7) Healthy eating for the family – this involves low-carb food for me and more fruits and vegetables for all of us.

Not low-carb but very wholesome: berries, granola, Greek yoghurt & honey

Do you like making resolutions? What are yours for this year?

By the way – did you guys know you can get fleece lined leggings at Walmart? BEST PURCHASE EVER – and they’re only $8! The label says: GEORGE fleece-lined footless tights. My sister and I LOVE them – we’re always checking to see if they’ve restocked (most sizes are sold out at our local store).  Here’s a quick snowy-day outfit photo wearing them:

Garage star sequin sweatshirt

GAP eternity scarf (similar for $14)

Walmart fleece-lined leggings (similar for $18)

Snow Boots (Old Navy version of these boots)

Parveen – this will be our driving year – we can do it 🙂 Apparently it's been 3 years since Toronto had a proper snowy winter – we've really been enjoying it – building snowmen, sledding – the kids love it!

Good luck on keeping your resolutions, Ella! I don't make them so it saves me from "disappointment" at the end of the year ;)xo, alison*elle

Thanks Alison – I know what you mean – the concept of resolutions doesn't work for everybody – but for some reason, I love them 🙂

You look great! And I also wish I was a morning person. Having a baby hasn't even changed that…except I sleep a lot less :(Gotta check out Walmart for those leggings. They will be great in our freezing Ottawa winters.

Hope you find the leggings – they're great! Yes – having children hasn't changed my sleeping habits either – but I should try going to bed when they do!

I didn't even see that you wrote this post until now! Great minds think alike :)I love the snow angel picture, so sweet! I think you can accomplish all of these resolutions Ella! You seem like a really positive person, and to me, that's the most important part of changing something. Good luck!XOXO

Thanks Noelle – you're so sweet. I definitely try to be positive at all times – I'm all about baby-steps and not being too hard on myself 🙂

Thanks to you, I found my go-to lip balm the Nivea milk and honey that really really works! Now I just learned about facial massages from this post! Definitely going to check it out since my face has been feeling puffy and saggy lately. Love your blog 🙂

Thanks for the feedback Olyvia 🙂 I really want to do the lymphatic massage more often – but I still haven't memorized all the steps so I only do it when I can watch the videos on my computer LOL!

I'm on the same page with you on #'s 2 and 4 – I feel like I'm constantly picking up after the three boys. I am almost tempted to find a part time housekeeper to help me keep up!Sequins&Stilettos

Yes – I've always been a very tidy person – but when other people keep making messes, it's hard to keep up!

Yes – the weight issue is never-ending for me – but I'm not obsessed about it because we are always our own worst critics 🙂 My hair is getting long – but thanks to the tangle teezer and Macadamia conditioner, it's never been easier to manage…I want to see how long I can go LOL!

That photo is SO cute! I love the outfit too- I've been living in fleece lined leggings, best invention. ever. These are great goals! I'm going to try to keep my carb count low too and somewhat follow my current diet. While that may not be totally low carb, it's very healthy and packed with protein too which will level out your carbs.

Your current diet seems really healthy – especially the scheduled snacks – I'm so bad at having little snacks throughout the day.

It's comforting to know that there is someone else out there who doesn't have their license. But you are definitely one step ahead of me, actually more steps ahead of me because I still have to go and do that computerized test. Good luck with it!I picked up some fleeced lined tights from Marshall's and it's a brand called Lemon. They are awesome and only $8 too.

I know what you mean – sometimes I feel like the ONLY person in the world who can't drive LOL – it's encouraging to know that there are quite a few of us…and that it's ok to be a late-learner 🙂
