I recently replaced my YSL Kate with the YSL Saint Laurent Cassandre Matelasse Chain Wallet…I have a thing for mini designer bags – but my bags need to be used – not just sit in my closet and look pretty! Last year I purchased the YSL Kate – and while I loved the look of it – I hardly EVER wore it out because my iPhone Max didn’t fit in it (I had an older version of the Kate).
As a content creator I always need my phone close by – so going forward I will only pick bags that have space for my phone – micro minis are not for me! I made the decision to sell my YSL Kate Chain bag and get one I could use.
After reading a lot of reviews, I chose the YSL Saint Laurent Cassandre Matelasse Chain Wallet – it is one of Saint Laurent’s most popular bags because of its aesthetics, durability and practicality. It is made of calfskin leather and has a classic quilted/matelasse structure. It has a removable metal chain shoulder strap, and the interior has 2 separate compartments divided by a zip pouch. It’s still a small bag yet it has adequate space for your essentials.
Below is a size comparison picture I took of the bag I got rid of (my old YSL Kate in Fard) versus my new YSL Saint Laurent Cassandre Matelasse Chain Wallet in Nude Powder – you can see how much more spacious my new bag is!

And here is a size comparison of the YSL Cassandre Chain Wallet versus my mini Gucci Marmont and my Chanel Wallet on Chain. While it doesn’t have the depth and capacity of my Gucci Marmont, the YSL Cassandre is larger than both the YSL Kate Chain bag and Chanel WOC.

When researching this bag – I came across one potential flaw. The bag has a snap closure rather than a magnetic one, and apparently the tip at the front of the bag can show wear, as it is touched a lot when you open and close the bag. So it is recommended to open the bag by placing your fingers underneath the side of the flap to open it, rather than using the tip of the flap.
