Patio Time

For me, a perfect day would ALWAYS include spending time with friends while eating yummy food. So when Lena invited a group of lifestyle bloggers over for lunch and patio time – I couldn’t wait to hang out!

My outfit for the event: top (c/o) / jeans / bag

It was such a lovely afternoon – we tried new dishes and learned how to prepare some of the recipes. If you
plan on entertaining this summer, read on for two easy-to-make
appetizers! We started off with this fresh fruit and dip combo:

Rainbow Fruit Skewers with Creamy Lemon Dip

Fruit Skewers
10 small strawberries
10 cantaloupe balls or peach wedges
10 pineapple wedges or banana chunks
10 kiwi wedges or honeydew balls
30 blueberries
10 purple grapes
10 short bamboo skewers

 Creamy Lemon Dip
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tbsp Great Value Honey or maple syrup
zest of 1 lemon
pinch cinnamon

  • Whisk yogurt with honey, lemon and cinnamon. Set aside. Skewer fruit in rainbow pattern. Serve alongside dip.
  • To make ahead, wrap skewers tightly with plastic wrap, or place in a resealable bag and refrigerate up to 12 hours. Make dip up to 24 hours ahead. (Makes 10)

For lunch, there was a build-your-own-burger bar with custom toppings. We also had a veggie/chip dip at our table and everyone kept coming round for it – apparently it’s super addictive!

Creamy Taco Dip

1 cup plain Greek yogurt
½ pkg Great Value Light Cream Cheese
½ cup crumbled feta
½ tsp Great Value Taco Seasoning Mix
1 tbsp chopped chives
baby carrots or other cut vegetables, rippled chips

  •  Combine yogurt with cream cheese and feta in a food processor. Blend on high until pureed, scraping down sides as needed. Add taco seasoning and blend until combined. Transfer to a serving dish and top with chives.
  •  Serve with carrots and Great Value Potato Chips. Make ahead up to 24 hours. Makes about 2 cups.

We finished off the BBQ with an ice-cream bar with sprinkles. So easy to assemble and SO popular. My ice cream was a non-dairy coconut ice cream – yum! Hope you liked these 2 recipes – if you want more recipe inspiration, visit www.walmart.ca/recipecentre.
