Some colours are trusted friends – these are the safe colours that make you feel happy and confident when you wear them. My trusted colours are white, cream and blush pink. THEN there are the colours that you’ve always wanted to try – but are not 100% sure that you can pull off…

This beautiful shade of Marigold falls in my “uncertain” category…I always like it on others – but am not sure if it works for me. When Morning Lavender contacted me, asking if I wanted to try out one of their dresses – at first I was going to opt for something like this blush pink beauty – which is firmly in my comfort zone.
But…since I was getting the opportunity to try ANYTHING from their store – I took the chance and tried something new. And I’m so glad I did, because this Mila Marigold Lace Jumpsuit is SUCH a pretty piece – and so different from anything else that I own.
When wearing an “uncertain” colour, one of my top tips is to wear a “trusted” colour close to your face – either with a statement necklace or large earrings. Since this dress is so intricate, I didn’t need to accessorize much – I just added white tassel earrings and a gold clutch. I did modify the outfit a bit – I added a slip under the dress instead of the shorts, for additional coverage. The end result is an outfit I absolutely LOVE – it’s so bright and cheerful, don’t you think?
What colours are you hesitant to wear?
Such a beautiful dress/jumpsuit, you look gorgeous!xxTea | moonshinefaerie
Thank you so much Tea!
It is lovely on you.
Thank you Amy!
You look beautiful! I love this color on you. I've seen this dress on another site but didn't order because of the deep plunge but I love how you've styled it with a slip. That's how I'd do it too. Are you wearing a small?
I am wearing a small! It did come with attached shorts but I removed them as I wanted to wear a slip with the dress. If I kept the shorts, I would have worn it with a cami instead of a slip 🙂
I bought this dress/romper and I love it! However, I am super tall which makes the shorts ride up when I put it on, making it super uncomfortable. Any tips on how you removed the shorts without wrecking the intricate lace?
Hi! I took small sharp scissors and cut the shorts completely off near the reinforced stitching – so it didn't interfere with the lace. Hope that makes sense! I cut near the waistband and around the zipper, so none of the shorts fabric was left.
Perfect! Thank you!
