My Fashion Week Experience – Target show and Backstage with Maybelline & Redken

World Mastercard Fashion Week is in full swing in Toronto – I was SO excited to get tickets to the Target show, as well as an opportunity to view hair and makeup backstage.

What I wore:

H&M lace dress (identical), Express vest (similar), Nine West boots & Michael Kors Selma in Luggage.

Backstage with Maybelline’s Lead Make-up Artist Grace Lee

Clockwise from Top Left: Grace demonstrating the Target look; The finished look on the model; Grace’s make-up table; Erin Wasson – Grace’s inspiration for the show.

Runway Look for Target: Grace was inspired by lead model Erin Wasson’s cool-girl look, describing it as Girl Next Door with a hint of Rocker Chic.
How-to:
Eyes – Smoky brown eyes were created with Bad to the Bronze Color Tattoo blended with Colorshow Cream Liner. Lashes were coated with generous layers of Colossal Volume Smoky Eyes mascara. Brows were filled in with Master Shape Brow – a one step pencil combining both color and wax.
FaceFit Me Foundation was pressed onto the skin using a Beauty Blender sponge. Dream Lumi Touch concealer was blended as an under-eye highlight. On the cheeks, a darker shade of Fit Me Foundation stick was applied using a MAC 168 brush for contouring, with a cream blush (not yet available) dabbed on the apples for color. Grace finished the look with her custom concoction – Barely Brazen Color Tattoo Pigment mixed with a sheer Baby Lips gloss to highlight the cheekbones – this looked amazing and it’s definitely a trick I want to try at home!
Lips – Nude Illusion Color Elixir – a recently released super-pigmented gloss – was applied on the lips.

Runway Look for Target: Natural Beach Waves
How-to: Hair is pre-treated with setting lotion – Iron Shape 11 – to hold curl. Random pieces are spiral wrapped around a curling wand and pinned in place. Hair is left to completely cool in order to lock-in the curl. Then hair is unpinned and finger combed to loosen the curls. Fashion Waves – a texturizing sea spray – is applied to add texture and enhance curls.

Some of the colorful looks spotted from our seats at the show! I’ve included the official press photos by George Pimental below for a clearer view of some of my favorite looks:

Am absolutely obsessed with this Mossimo black and white graphic print -it looks amazing on its own as a dress, but also gorgeous paired with metallics or deep blue. I can’t decide WHICH version (pant/dress/skirt) I’ll pick up – but I’m DEFINITELY buying at least one of these pieces!

Also found inspiration in these casual looks – loved the spotted scarf and rolled-up blazer on the right, the MUST-HAVE leopard booties from the middle pic. As for the glamorous lumberjack look on the left – plaid shirt, sparkly necklace and distressed jeans – I think I’ll be copying this from head-to-toe (although I might cheat and wear flats instead of heels!)

Goodies & Products to Try:

Between the backstage media lounge and the sponsor booths before the show, I received quite a lot of products to test out including Redken Color Extend shampoo and conditioner, and their star backstage product (mentioned above): Fashion Waves. I’m also super-excited to try the Maybelline Colossal Smoky Eyes Mascara and Baby Lips balm – and cult-favorite nail color, Essie’s Mint Candy Apple. Hubby and I received the cutest gifts during the Target show too – cozy flannel throw pillows and a Bullseye Snowglobe!
