With all the red and white in this outfit – it would have been the perfect choice for Canada Day or Fourth of July. But the reason I’m sharing it with you today is because it’s the ideal outfit for a weekend away with the fam!

Outfit c/o MARKS: jacket / shirt / jeans / bag / shoes |
Summer is full of roadtrips to the cottage or meetups with relatives for picnics in the park. You need to wear something practical – but you also want to look cute! Let’s start with my favourite base layer – a white lace top and distressed jeans – comfortable, chic and easy to accessorize.
My top is from Alfred Sung – and combines a lace tank with a longer chiffon layer that looks great untucked. These distressed capris are so comfortable! I’m a huge fan of Silver Jeans, I bought my first pair last year – and I love how their fabric is stretchy yet keeps its fitted shape.
This red raincoat is the statement element for this outfit – and it is practical too. It’s lightweight, easy to pack – and waterproof, so you’re ready for any weather! Since it’s machine washable – you can use it sit on the grass – and just throw it in the wash at the end of the day. If it gets too hot, you can roll it up and put it away – it hardly takes up any space.
Speaking of suitable for any weather – this floral cross-body bag is a cute option for family trips. The bright pink and red fabric is easy to wipe clean, and the bag is spacious enough for all your essentials – including a cell phone charger and a pack of wet wipes. As a bag-fanatic – I thoroughly examined this bag – and it’s really well-made….tight, neat stitching and sturdy fabric. It’s currently under $30 and it comes in a pretty blue version too!
The finishing touch to this outfit is this pair of gladiator shoes with block heels. I really like wearing lace-up heels – they strap your feet in and give you more support. And this pair has a side zip so you don’t have to fiddle with the laces every time you put them on or take them off. These shoes are low enough to walk in comfortably (we went to the park after taking these photos) and are versatile – they would also look cute paired with a summer dress.
It’s hard for me to choose a favourite part of this outfit – but I think I’d have to pick the raincoat. I’ve been looking for a lightweight travel jacket (you know how I’m ALWAYS cold!) and this is perfect – it’ll keep me warm, dry – and won’t take up any room in my luggage!
What is your go-to summer jacket?
