My Virtual Fashion Experience

This month I attended a fashion show, met with a personal stylist AND went on a shopping date. In regular circumstances, this would be exciting – but in these quarantine times (when we are all staying at home) – this seems impossible! Yet my fun day of fashion was perfectly safe, because it was all done online through cabi’s Virtual Fashion Experience.

I’ve been working with cabi as a Spring 2020 Ambassador, and I’ve been able to experience the different services they provide to their customers. Depending on the amount of fashion input you want – you can either shop online directly or use the services of a cabi stylist (free of charge). Your stylist can help you figure out what to add to your wardrobe and will choose pieces that work for your lifestyle.

As part of their free styling services, cabi stylists host Fashion Experiences – where you can attend a fashion show, try on clothing and shop in person. cabi also created an online Virtual Fashion Experience – to cater to customers who aren’t able to attend events in person – which is especially timely in light of recent events. They rolled out their Virtual option this Spring – and I got to experience it!

MY VIRTUAL FASHION EXPERIENCE:

In the UK and Canada, you can have your Virtual Fashion Experience via Zoom, and if you’re in the U.S. you can use a dedicated cabi platform called Front Row. On the day of my Fashion Experience, I logged in at a set time, along with several other cabi ambassadors. We had a face-to-face introductory chat with our stylist, Jeralyn, and then she switched our screens over to the cabi fashion show.

It was a fun experience watching the show together – it felt like you were at a real life fashion show, with each model walking down the virtual runway accompanied by upbeat music. A tool bar appeared underneath each look – allowing you to pick out the items you liked. You could either save a whole outfit or favourite individual pieces. You could also message your party in real-time, as you watched the show. The outfits were presented by collection, and we got little updates in between from our stylist about the themes behind each collection and advice on what each piece would work for. Here is a screenshot at the end of one collection:

And here we are after the show – chatting face-to-face and asking our stylist (and each other) questions about fit and sharing tips on how to style the different pieces (I blurred some faces to protect their privacy!)

For the shopping part of the experience, I picked out the Derby Dress (pictured above) and the leopard set (pictured below). Some of the other guests already owned the Derby Dress and told me that I would LOVE it, as the fabric is so light and perfect for the summer. I had some questions about the spotted joggers I’m wearing below – I wanted a loose comfy fit, and I didn’t know whether to pick my regular size (small) or size up to a medium. Jeralyn told me that the bottoms were generously sized, so I should stick with my regular size – and she was right – the spotted joggers fit perfectly with the slouchy look I was going for!

My Virtual Fashion Experience was a fun way to spend an afternoon – especially in secluded times like these! It’s like online shopping but better because:

  • It provided inspiration as I was able to see my favourite pieces styled in multiple ways on the models in the show
  • I was able to ask specific questions on fit and fabric – and have the stylist pull out the item I was interested in from her clothing rack. It was the next best thing to browsing the clothes in person.
  • I got to chat with the other party attendees (and you can even request a party for you and your friends!)

Have you ever been on a virtual shopping date?

It sounds like such a fun experience! It’s nice how you were able to learn more about the fabric and ask questions for the parts to understand the fit! Definitely a great option to have when shopping online!

It really was! I had my eye on some of the pieces before the show – and I loved that the stylist was able to hold up the items I was interested in – and provide more in-depth feedback – I was so happy with what I picked out!
