Short and Sweet Sephora Picks

In honor of the current Sephora Spring Savings Event, I’ve put together a curated list of my Sephora picks. I shop a LOT at Sephora, but for this post, I’m ONLY including the items I use every day. If you find the Sephora Sale overwhelming with all the new releases – this list may help you pick out some tried-and-tested essentials.

Sephora Picks - tried and tested skincare and makeup recommendations

SEPHORA PICKS: SKINCARE

Dermalogica PreCleanse Cleansing Oil and Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel – I double-cleanse in the morning and evening, and this combo is gentle, non-stripping, and completely removes all my face makeup including foundation and sunscreen (for mascara residue/false lash glue I use Pond’s Cold Cream or Micellar Water).

Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado – any time I remove this from my routine, my eye area suffers – this helps keep my undereyes light. It reduces puffiness and minimizes lines. I will sometimes try out a new eye cream  – but always make sure that I use this at least once a day (during my nightime routine).

Serums – I love using serums but have very sensitive skin, so I’ve taken my time and introduced each one of these gradually into my routine. I start with The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum as a base (essential for creating a healthy moisture barrier), and then I add in ONE of these 3 serums, depending on the day.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Oil Control Serum – this serum minimizes the appearance of pores, reduces oil production, evens skin tone and helps maintain a healthy moisture barrier. Add this in to your routine if you want a healthy glow.

The Ordinary Buffet Anti-Aging Serum – this serum contains a “buffet” of ingredients to help maintain youthful skin, with a lot of powerful peptides that can help promote collagen production.

Dermalogica BioLumin-C Vitamin C Serum – I use The Ordinary serums when I can because they’re effective AND super affordable, but sometimes you have to splurge, and unfortunately The Ordinary Vitamin C serums didn’t suit my skin – but this Dermalogica one is gentle and non-irritating.  Along with Sunscreen and Retin-A, Vitamin C is a proven skincare ingredient for youthful looking skin – it helps with brightening and firming.

SEPHORA PICKS: MAKEUP

Tarte Mini Shape Tape Concealer – my undereyes need a lot more covering up these days – so I did a ton of research and tried MANY popular products (including the Smasbox/Becca Under Eye Brightener and the NARS Radiant Concealer). Nothing worked except for this concealer – it completely covers up under eye darkness. I apply it sparingly, let it set and then carefully tap it in to blend.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation – I love the full coverage effect and glowy finish – it’s a classic for a reason!

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner – Micro Tip – the BEST liquid liner I’ve used. It’s pigmented, easy-to-apply and doesn’t budge. The micro tip provides a lot of control – drawing winged liner is so easy with this!

Highlighter Combo – Giorgio Armani Eye Tint Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeshadow in Gold Foil + Benefit Cookie Highlighter – I’m a huge fan of a nose highlight (on the tip and down the bridge of my nose – you can see it in my pic above). Both of these products are very intense, and combining them helps my highlight stay in place a long time!

Okay I need to try that Stila liner! I’ve been shopping for a new one, but always go back to the KVD one.

You’ll love it! The precise tip is so satisfying – and I found it lasts as long (if not longer) then the KVD one on me!
