Bag Review: Vintage Louis Vuitton Monogram Petit Bucket 23 Bag

This year’s birthday present to myself was a vintage Louis Vuitton Monogram Petit Bucket 23 Bag . My friend Eileen (@yesmissy) recently purchased the larger version (Louis Vuitton Monogram Bucket 27 GM Bag) as a work tote. When I was helping her research her bag, I fell in love with the mini version for myself…so now we have matching bags!

Both of these Monogram Bucket Bags have been discontinued, and are only available on the preloved market. I’m so happy with my Bucket Bag – I used to own the Louis Vuitton Neverfull PM in Damier Ebene, but it was too wide and shallow. I prefer the design of the Petit Bucket Bag – it’s more structured and secure.

In terms of pricing, a new Neverfull PM is around US$1.9k, while my Monogram Petit Bucket 23 was US$650 before tax and shipping. (I purchased my bag from Fashionphile – you can check out their current selection of Petit Bucket Bags here). The lower pricing is because the bucket bag is an older style which was discontinued in the late 2010s (maybe 2015-2016?) – but I personally think the design is a forever classic – I can’t wait to pair it with neutrals this Fall!

The Monogram Petit Bucket 23 Bag has 2 pockets inside, an oval structured base with 4 metal feet and the straps are adjustable from 6 inches to 9.5 inches. It came with a zippered mini pouch – but these are often sold separately on the preloved market.

The bag dimensions are around 9″ L x 6″ W x 10.25″ H. If you’re looking for a work tote to fit your laptop – the larger Monogram Bucket 27 is around 10.5″ L x 8″ W x 13.25″ H.

In terms of modifications – I love the look of structured bags, so I added a base shaper inside my bucket bag. I have also placed a drawstring pouch – so that I can secure my belongings and close off my bag.
