F21 Fitting Room Reviews & a Chance Meeting

I stopped by Forever 21 the other day to try find an outfit for an upcoming family party. Although there were some lovely cheap and cheerful clothes – I didn’t find anything suitable for the party. That doesn’t mean I came away empty handed though!

I decided I needed the Valentino Rockstud-alike flats after all:

Forever 21 Studded Faux Leather Flats

And of course I had to pick up a necklace too – apparently elephants symbolize protection and good luck!

I tried on a couple of shirts – I find it hard ordering clothes from the F21 website as the selection is TOO LARGE (very intimidating!) and the items look quite different in person (in terms of fit, quality and material). Here are my thoughts on the clothes I tried on:

Forever 21 Tie-Front Georgette Top

PURCHASED. I liked the nautical vibe and feminine bow detail. The material seems more sheer and wrinkle-prone in person, but still good quality for the price.

Forever 21 Chest Pocket Gingham Shirt

PURCHASED. Fit isn’t the best – it’s slightly boxy – but I love the color – and can see myself wearing it a lot in the summer.

DIDN’T BUY. I liked the vibrant color, ruffled shoulder and long sleeves, but was put off by the scalloped hem – not a flattering shape at all!

Forever 21 Star Print Peplum Top

DIDN’T BUY. I really liked the material and pattern of this shirt, but the fit was very strange. I don’t think I have a long torso, but this sat surprisingly high on my waist. I don’t think the peplum flare worked with my figure as it  over-emphasized my hips.

Top: Gift, Jeans: Garage, Sandals: Coach, Bag: Coach

Here’s the outfit I wore out – I’ve been wearing my Coach Bow sandals non-stop since I bought them. I’m SO glad I purchased the navy Tanner tote – it works really well with any denim outfit.

While I was checking out the necklace section in Forever 21, I noticed somebody who looked familiar – lovely eyes, Damier Ebene LV & strolling with an adorable newborn. Before I knew it, I was going up to her and asking her: “Are you Mehreen?” (from the monthly must-reads group)… And it was! Even though we’ve chatted on email and both live in the GTA, what are the chances we’d run into each other so randomly? It was surreal but a WONDERFUL surprise – especially because we already knew so much about each other from our blogs!

Have you ever had an unexpected “real-life” meeting with someone you knew “online”?

Great finds, Ella! Those flats are a great dupe and I love your bow sandals. That's so great that you were able to meet her and how funny that you just ran into her like that:)

Schnelle – it was so funny! But I guess we both share a love of F21 so it was bound to happen at some point LOL 🙂

I'm loving them too! I wasn't too sure about the pointy toe – but it's not too noticeable – I'm so glad I got them 🙂

How crazy that you bumped into Mehreen! I'm sure her baby girl is darling! Love your pics and I agree with your "didn't buy" options… the pieces you DID get flatter your frame!Sequins&Stilettos

It really was crazy! And her newborn is such a sweetie – she already enjoys going shopping with her mom LOL! When my kids were that age – I'd have to carry them and jiggle them around ALL the time – they'd NEVER stay in their stroller LOL!

It was soooo great finally meetin you !:) I ended up with nothing from F21! I always get overwhelmed in there ! Lol . My next stop was the nursing station to feed the little munchkin after which point she decided she didn't want to be in her stroller anymore ! Lol

It was great! Our next meetup should be a shopping date at ZARA 🙂 Too funny about munchkin not wanting to be in her stroller anymore – story.of.my.life LOL! My kiddies only started SITTING in their strollers when they were around 3 and too old for them anyway 🙂

Love your purchases though I think everything looks wonderful on you! F21 stuff always seems so cute on the hanger but I believe you definitely have to try on everything since the sizing is very hit and miss in my opinion. It's great that you got a chance meeting with a blogging friend. I treasure the friends I've met online and then in person!

Thanks Lindy 🙂 F21 is very hit and miss – I love stores with consistent sizing – it makes it so easy to shop from them! I love my online to real-life friends too 🙂

What a fun shopping trip! I would love to meet bloggers in person, but sadly never have. I think it's because I don't live in a large city. I love all of the things you purchased! The tops are great, you can pair them with so much! I actually like the peplum on you but I know how you feel. I can't wear my peplum top with anything but a skirt. It looks terrible with pants! I guess we have the same torso problem 😉

I loved the polka dot print too – especially because up close you could see that some of the dots were stars – SUPER cute!
