These past few weeks have been very busy – but in the best way – with lots of time spent with friends and family. It was my mother’s birthday last week – so the whole extended family got together and we all went back to Muskoka. I guess we’re creatures of habit – when we find a place we like, we stick to it! One of the things we love about the JWMarriott is the gorgeous decor – here’s a pretty hutch I spotted near the library – doesn’t it look like it belongs in a magazine?
One of my favorite parts of traveling is packing all of my makeup and toiletry minis – it’s fun to change things up and use teeny tiny products! I can’t live without my tangle teezer – so I’m glad I finally have a compact version. The click-on cover makes it very travel friendly – I don’t have to worry about dirt or fluff getting caught in the bristles.

Before leaving on our trip, I headed downtown for a media breakfast hosted by Shu Uemura to launch their collaboration with Yaz Bukey (she’s in the picture below wearing star earrings).
Yaz Bukey is a Paris-based accessory and jewelry designer. She has collaborated with Shu Uemura to release a colorfully packaged range of makeup. There is quite a fun concept behind the collection – Yaz imagined four girls (Red = Sexy Yaz, Green = Smart Lola, Yellow = Romantic Betty, Blue = Daring Tina) all competing for the love of one man…Mr Shu Shu! There was a LOT of work behind the formulation and packaging of each product as Yaz wanted them to perfectly reflect her vision. Below are the products I received – aren’t they SO pretty? I don’t think I’ve ever worn such a true orange shade on my lips, but the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte lipsticks are noted for their deep color pay-off – so I’m excited to try it. The POREraser Mousse (in the pink can) is a unique product – it is a lightweight mousse with an SPF of 35 that reduces the appearance of pores and minimizes shine – bonus: it can even be used as an eyeshadow primer!
Here’s what I wore to the event – the lighting is strange because I had to leave the house SUPER-early to catch the train and make it downtown in time for the breakfast!

I have never tried Shu Uemura make up but I love your mini makeup bag. I need to have a travel size one too to save packing space.http://www.petitehmongmommy.com/
Travel size bags (and toiletries) are the best – hope you find a bag you like!
you look fab :), I really like your blog!
Thanks Pia!
Loooove your outfit for the Shu event! (I already re-pinned it on Pinterest before I saw your post, LOL.) And your hair and makeup were also perfection that day! Glad you had such a nice time with your family for your mom's birthday! (P.S. Express has this new Ruffled Tank that totally makes me think of you. I'll probably end up getting it because I always envy yours!! ha ha)Gina – On the Daily Express
OMG – that ruffled tank is so cute! I'm still in need of the Barcelona cami…it seems like a great tank to wear under jackets.
Those pants are fantastic! You styled them so well, that I need to go out and get a pair for myself. The Shu breakfast was so much fun, glad I got to meet you there 🙂
It was so much fun meeting you Shawna – your nail art was amazing!
I used to use Shu Make up at lot more but since they closed their South Coast Plaza Boutique, I have had a hard time finding it. I can only get it when I am in Asia. I was just in Shanghai and bought their powdered foundation but the sales lady almost didn't want to sell me it as I think she was out of the case. I only needed a refill. It was crazy expensive too. Are they phasing out the product? I used to buy a lot of their makeup but without the boutique, I don't make splurge purchases any more.
I think I read that Shu Uemura closed their US stores and were only available online – but I think in Canada you can still find them at department stores. It's a shame that it's so hard to track down for you!
