My grandfather always used to say: when you look good, you feel good. If any of his kids were feeling unwell, he would tell them to freshen up, comb their hair and put on a little cologne. I always think of his advice when I’m feeling blah, dressed in my sweats with messy hair. It’s amazing how spending a little bit of time dressing up lifts my mood!
With everyone staying at home to #flattenthecurve, it can seem a little pointless to get ALL dressed up with nowhere to go – but it’s always nice to have something to look forward to. So I’ve started getting fully glammed one day each week – I take that time to try on clothes, create blog and instagram content – and even film TikTok videos!
On my non-glam days, I at least try to wear a pretty top with my leggings – and apply minimal makeup (concealer, cream blush and lipliner). And of course there are some days when I prefer to be completely fresh faced and in sweats all day.
I wore this bright cabi outfit on one of my glammed up days. I remember when I picked it out in February, I was looking forward to wearing it outside in the warmer spring weather – isn’t it the perfect outfit for a lunchdate with girlfriends? I love the design of this reef knot blouse – it’s tapered in the sides to give a very feminine shape, and it has lightly puffed sleeves. Also, the bright yellow colour is so cheerful and makes me so happy! It pairs perfectly with these classic trouser jeans in a dark rinse – they’re such a chic and dressed up way to wear jeans.
What are you guys doing while staying at home? Are you dressing up at all? Maybe only on days when you have online meetings?
