I have different moods when I’m booking holidays – sometimes I’m feeling adventurous and want to be constantly on the go and exploring new places. Other times I just want to relax and feel pampered in a luxurious setting. When booking my combined birthday/anniversary trip in the middle of our busy summer – I knew for sure that I needed this trip to be the relaxing kind!

Our getaway turned out to be exactly the luxurious recharging vacation I had hoped for. Click through to read why a stay at Sandals Royal Bahamian will have you feeling like royalty!
1. You’re picked up in a Rolls Royce from the airport
This was something we didn’t expect – and what a way to start our trip! We were taken from the Sandals arrival lounge at Nassau airport straight to a waiting Rolls Royce to transport us to the resort. Sandals provides airport transfers for all of its guests, while the limousines are included for those staying at top-tier suites (or at an additional cost for all other guests).
2. You’re staying where actual royalty used to hang out
Looking around, you’ll find many opulent touches at Sandals Royal Bahamian – from the exquisite chandelier in the Crystal Room to the elegant decor at the Piano Bar. This is because Sandals Royal Bahamian was once the site of the Balmoral Club, a destination favoured by many aristocrats – including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor (formerly King Edward who abdicated his throne to marry Wallis Simpson.)

3. You have your own private island
The private island was my favourite part of the resort. You just walk over to the pier and take a short water taxi over to the island (the taxis depart at regular intervals – so getting back and forth doesn’t require much planning!) There is so much to do on the private island including: a pool with a swim-up bar and loungers, beaches on each side with snorkeling, over-the-water hammocks, zen gardens, Spa treatment rooms and Schooners – a delicious seafood restaurant. But my favourite spot was the Bali-inspired cabanas. I would bring over a drink from the bar (either a virgin mojito or fruit punch), look out at the stunning view, and catch up on some reading – it was my idea of heaven!

4. Your room is your castle
There is so much to do outside – but the room can make it hard to leave. Our room was so spacious – with a four-poster bed, couch, breakfast table and desk. There was also a little dressing room along with the bathroom (scroll down to view my room tour video below). As we had a Club Sandals upgrade, we had complimentary room service and a fully-stocked in-room bar. We also had a pretty balcony with a view of the resort and the beach – I loved having my coffee on the balcony and looking out at the water.

5. You’re treated like a queen (or king)
Every aspect of our stay was amazing – from the activities, to the food, the service and the views. Staying at an all-inclusive resort means you don’t have to worry about anything except having fun! We had lots of fresh and delicious food, enjoyed a rejuvenating couples spa treatment (written about in this post) and lounged around at the beach to our hearts’ content. If anything – their drinks are a bit too good…especially their fruit punch! I probably had more sugar than I should have – but you have to indulge on holiday, otherwise what’s the point!
